Group A: Costa Rica and Paraguay draw at 0-0
Group B: Peru def. Haiti 1-0
Brazil and Ecuador draw at 0-0
Costa Rica v Paraguay
Neither team was able to take advantage of the situation. If either team had won the match, they would have been in a tie for first place in the group and moved one step closer to clinching a spot in the knockout round. Instead, neither team managed to create many great chances, both teams had to settle for 1 point, and the USA still have a great chance to finish second in the group, if they can take 4 points from their next 2 matches.

Peru v Haiti
Peru played surprisingly well. The Peruvians have to be confident after the way they played, as they had many more chances than their opponents. They had 11 total shots, including 5 on target, and one that hit the post. However, they did not finish very many of these chances. Their inability to finish almost came back to hurt them as they almost squandered their lead at the end, but Kervens Belfort Fils of Haiti missed an open header from 6 yards out. Ultimately, however, I still believe neither of these two teams will advance from the group, unless Peru can somehow upset either Ecuador or Brazil, who played to a scoreless draw today.
Brazil v Ecuador
Ecuador should have won. In the 66th minute, Ecuadorian Miller Bolanos dribbled down the left wing and shot the ball across the face of the net. Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker bobbled the shot, and the ball slipped into the net. However, the goal was not counted, as the assistant referee said the ball was out of bounds before Bolanos kicked it. However, the ball clearly did not go out. The assistant referee was over 50 yards from the ball, and there were 2 goalposts blocking his vision of the ball. How could he possibly have made that call? Talk about controversy! His botched call was extremely consequential, as it stole victory from Ecuador, who deserved to have won 1-0.
