Day 4 Preview (6/6)

Matches-Group D
Panama v Bolivia
Argentina v Chile

Panama v Bolivia
For the third day in a row, there is a matchup between two teams who are not expected to qualify for the knockout round. However, these two teams will have similar mentalities to those of Peru, Haiti, Venezuela, and Jamaica. I believe Panama is the stronger of the two teams, though not by much. Panama has had some promising results against other CONCACAF teams recently, including defeating the USA at the Gold Cup last summer, and losing to Mexico and Costa Rica by one goal each. Bolivia, on the other hand, has not been too great recently. Since shocking the doubters and advancing to the knockout rounds of last year's Copa, Bolivia has had some rough outings, including losing to the USA last Saturday by a score of 4-0, and getting smashed by Argentina 7-0. We can expect Panama to win this game, although not necessarily by much.

Prediction: Panama wins 2-1

Argentina v Chile
This is the most anticipated match of the Group Stage. The rematch of last year's Copa Final, where Chile won in penalties. Argentina will undoubtedly have revenge on their minds. Although they have been recognized as the cup favorites, they may be in trouble for today's match, as it is reported that captain Lionel Messi will be sidelined with a back injury. Messi is the heart and soul of the Argentinian team, and it will be difficult to get past the defending Copa champs without him. However, Argentina still has plenty of attacking talent, despite Messi's absence. Angel Di Maria is coming off a great year at PSG, Gonzalo Higuain is coming off a record-breaking season at Napoli, and Sergio Aguero just completed a 29-goal season during which he lead Manchester City all the way to the Champions League semifinals. If these players can step up and perform for Argentina tonight, Argentina can probably squeak by with the win

Prediction: Argentina wins 1-0
