Venezuela pulled off the upset! Now Venezuela has clinched a spot in the knockout round, regardless of the outcome of the third match against Mexico. Venezuela will likely have to face Argentina, as they will probably finish second in Group C after Mexico. As for Uruguay, they are out. They should have made it to the knockout round from this group, but they lost to Venezuela. Uruguay had their fair share of chances to score in this game but could not capitalize on even one, and as a result, they will be heading home after the last match against Jamaica.
Mexico v Jamaica
Mexico extended the undefeated run to 21 following a 2-0 victory over Jamaica. Mexico has now clinched a spot in the knockout round, while Jamaica has been eliminated following the loss. Mexico dominated, out-possessing Jamaica 64-36, and Jamaica once again failed to score. If they do not score against Uruguay, they will have gone the whole cup losing every single match without scoring a goal for the second straight year.
