Matches- Group C
Uruguay v Venezuela (7:30 PM ET)
Mexico v Jamaica (10:00 PM ET)
Current Group C Table
This is the table of Group C before today's matches.
Uruguay v Venezuela
This match is a must-win for Uruguay. If they lose, they are virtually eliminated from the competition. Luckily for them, however, this match should not be too difficult to win. Yes, Venezuela dominated against Jamaica in terms of stats, but let's not forget that Jamaica is simply a weak team. They got eliminated in the group stage last year without scoring a single goal over three games. They may manage to repeat this remarkable feat again. Since Venezuela's victory against Jamaica was only by a 1-goal margin, Venezuela does not necessarily prove they deserve to make it to the knockout rounds. Uruguay is still a strong team, even though Luis Suarez is injured. Uruguay will also put in extra effort, knowing that losing means being eliminated and sent home early.
Prediction: Uruguay wins 2-0
Mexico v Jamaica
In my opinion, this is the matchup between the strongest and weakest teams in Group C. Mexico has the talent to destroy this team, and is on fire after just defeating the group's second best team, Uruguay, by a score of 3-1. Mexico has now gone 20 straight matches without a loss, and I fully expect the streak to extend to 21 after this match, because, as I mentioned above, Jamaica is not a particularly strong team.
Prediction: Mexico wins 3-0
