Results-Group D
Chile def. Bolivia 2-1
Argentina def. Panama 5-0
Chile v Bolivia
Chile got lucky here. In the dying moments of the match, Alexis Sanchez of Chile sent a cross across the Bolivia, but it was stopped by Bolivian defender Gutierrez's upper arm. The referee gave Chile the penalty, which Arturo Vidal scored to win the game. However, there is still a lot of controversy surrounding the penalty call. Technically, it was the right call, but Bolivian fans are outraged at the referee's decision to give a penalty, especially because it was clearly unintentional. Either way, the call was made and Chile won the match, which means Bolivia is officially eliminated from the tournament. Chile now moves into second place, after Argentina's thrashing of Panama.
Argentina v Panama
Argentina continues playing well in this cup, and now clinches qualification for the quarterfinals. They are also more or less guaranteed 1st place in Group D, as the only way they could drop is if they lose, and Chile wins by 6 or more against Panama. However, they more than likely will not lose against Bolivia, the last place team in the group who have already been eliminated. On the other hand, Panama falls from a tie for first place to 3rd place following the rout. They can only qualify for the knockout if they beat Chile in the final match.
